Emilio Guirao was born in Andorra in 1975.
He studied in the french Lycée Comte de Foix were he obtained the A1 Baccalauréat (Philosophy, Arts and Maths).
After moving to Barcelona, he started the photographic school IEFC (Escola Industrial), and at the same time got a job as apprentice in the camera rental Service Vision. There he professionals from the camera crew, and started working as second camera assistant. In 2001 he met the film director Isabel Coixet. She gave him in 2004, his first jobs as director of photography.
In 2005, Emilio stopped being second assistant and became director of photography. Since then Emilio has done tv commercials (Estrella Damm, BMW, Volkswaggen, Heineken, Deward’s, Electric Ireland), and two feature films, Roger Gual’s Tasting Menu and José Skaf’s Vulcania (Sitges Film Festival Official competition 2015) both produced by Zentropa.
Emilio speaks spanish, french, english and catalan.
