Pau Català studied filmmaking in ESCAC specializing as Director of Photography. In 2004 he was selected as a cinematographer by Wim Wenders to shoot “Barcelona asleep”, a commercial for the European Film Awards. In 2006 he participated in Camerimage Lodz Film Festival with the short movie “No quiero la noche”.
His deep understanding of the filmmaking process and proficient technical skills are based on direct experience at every level of the shooting process, having worked first as electrician an then as cameraman on commercials for brands such as Mercedes, Heineken, Vodafone or Movistar among many others.
In 2008 he started developing projects as director of photography including several commercial and documentary projects.
Since then he has shot a variety of commercials ranging from fashion works for brands such as Revlon or Uterqüe, to sports for brands like Adidas, telecoms such as Vodafone or car commercials for Mini, Ford, Opel among others, as well as being involved in social campaign projects for Unicef or The Creators Project.
As cinematographer, Pau has developed a strong visual style, and has an acute empathy for the personal visions and multiple needs directors come across during the cinematic process.
